The 6 Universal Month In The 4 Universal Year: Lessons About Responsibility and The Homefront
2020 churns ever forward, and incredulously (to me, anyway), October is drawing to it's close- which means our 5 Universal Month is almost in the books.
As I say every month: if you're new to this blog series, please check out this post to better define the 4 Universal Year. What I'll be discussing are numerology influences on a larger scale. We see these influences in our headlines and the changing attitudes of the masses. They are different from our own individual Personal Years, which we feel on a far more personal level. The Universal Year indicates the lessons all of humanity may be learning as a whole.
5 is the number of excitement. Adventure. Extroversion. Physical stamina. It's also the number of change, chaos, sudden twists, and uncertainty- and we saw plenty of that in October. From starting the month with the leader of the free world contracting coronavirus and it’s wild spread through The White House, to the dramatic continued escalation of Covid-19's third wave, the specter of looming lockdowns overseas, not to mention the wildly turbulent election season in the USA and it's ripple effects across the globe- well, I don't know about you, but I feel like taking a nap for the next three years. It's been way too much excitement for my taste, and I freely admit that I'm tired.
Still, as always, the sun continues to set and rise. The day goes on. November approaches, and with it, a new number for us to navigate: The 6 Universal Month. Let's explore some of its qualities, shall we?
The 6 is known for:
- A strong desire to be of service and to be helpful
- Caregiving and nurturing
- Pursuing justice and upholding what is right and fair (as is interpreted on a subjective level)
- The aspiration to beautify one's environment through the arts, being crafty
- A heavy emphasis on responsibility
- Sticking close to what is traditional and conventional
- Domineering behavior, meddling, and interference
The big-hearted 6 is generally well-meaning and carries the very best of intentions. When there's a problem, the 6 wants to fix it. It's often associated with counseling, nursing, educators, community organizers, volunteering, and other service work forms. It also wants to nourish and beautify whatever it touches and leave things better than how they found them (think artists, musicians, cooks, designers, etc.). It's also damn stubborn, obstinate as hell, and is resistant to deviating from their pre-formed opinions.
The 6 and 4 have some vital common tenets. Both naturally focus on upholding order. They focus on the stability of the family unit. Generally speaking, they are upholders of tradition and defenders of the home. Both are fiercely loyal numbers that demonstrate their love through quantifiable and measurable actions. They can be exceedingly strict and unyielding, and when push comes to shove, neither one will back down from their declared positions.
When we have two compatible numbers with similar qualities working together, a mirror effect may take hold. We could reap the benefits of these two as they bring out the best in one another, or we could see these two coalesce in such a way that brings out their shadow sides. Will they like what they see in each other, or will they project their darker aspects on to one another?
I'd also like to make special note of the November numerology aspects for the United States. Since events in the USA have such a marked ripple effect worldwide, and because tensions are so inflamed, it merits our specific attention.
With a birthday of July 4th, 1776, in 2020, the USA itself transitioned from an incredibly noisy and chaotic 5 Personal Year into a stubborn, opinionated 6 Personal Year. (I am of the school of thought that Personal Years transition at one's birthday, not at the top of the calendar year.) In November, the USA will be transiting through an 8 Personal Month, which brings up lessons regarding authority and power. Like the 4 and 6, the 8 is also one of the "stubborn numbers," and it's not exactly known for sentimentality. Not a great combo for this volatile time. These numbers are ripe for power plays and leadership grabs. The 8 wants to seize control, and when paired with such fixed and headstrong numbers, these are not the aspects I want to see during a highly-charged election. Through the lens of numerology, all the chatter about potential "stealing" of the election is not far-fetched. And it makes me worried.
So. What else could this mean?
- I'm not surprised to see a new wave of lockdowns in Europe. Again, the 4 Universal Year is quite literally driving people inside their own four walls. With both that 4 and 6 carrying that homey vibration, this is a logical development for this number combo. People will be required to stay indoors (4) to protect and care for each other and their community (6). If France, Germany (and now England) hadn't just announced another round of lockdowns, I would have predicted this development. I expect more to come- it's literally in the numbers!
- I expect further Covid-19 related restrictions to come (4) that will impact our sense of stability in home and hearth (6). I think this is the kind of 4 Universal Year that will go out kicking and screaming, and what we transition into for 2021 is the unpredictable 5 Universal Year. The transition from 4 to 5 is a notable one. The 4 forces us to reckon with lessons about buckling down, doing the hard work, not screwing around, and ensuring we haven't taken any lazy shortcuts. If we roll up our sleeves and shore up our foundations, the wild and free winds of the 5 are more likely to feel refreshing and liberating. If not, the 5 can act like a tornado that will rip your house right out of the ground. What I'm saying is this: Learn the lessons of 2020, folks. Learn them now while you still can.
- Because of their fierce protection of the homefront, both the 4 and the 6 can exacerbate nationalistic sentiments and tendencies. Keep a watchful eye. Patriotism is noble and beautiful! Nationalism is dangerous and akin to playing with fire. Just look at what happened to Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria- his assassination brought the rising tides of nationalism to an ugly climax which kicked off World War One in 1914- a 6 Universal Year. Other examples include World War Two beginning in 1939 (a 4 Universal Year), and the Confederate States of America's secession in 1860 (a 6 Universal Year). With a pandemic raging across the globe and political strife reaching critical levels during the USA's election season, I worry about this number combo being a tinderbox. I’m not saying it will be as bad as a world war- what I am saying is it has the potential to be very ugly.
As always, we must ask ourselves what we can do. Here are some recommendations:
- This is an excellent time to get those home improvement projects done (4), especially ones that will beautify your environment (6). Covid may be ensuring we are spending a LOT of time there shortly (if you haven't been already), so why not make your home feel more like a gorgeous sanctuary and less like a prison.
- If you can find a safe way to do it, consider doing some volunteer work. There are all sorts of community initiatives that will need extra help over the coming months: Delivering meals (6) to the housebound and infirm (4), making homemade masks (6) for the homeless or those in shelters (4), fostering (6) an adoptable pet that needs structure and safety (4), even picking up litter on the side of the highway, both preserving (4) and beautifying (6) our roadways. These are just a few examples of how you can make yourself useful (6) and do something productive (4).
- As I’ve said before, I don’t particularly care for sounding like a catastrophist. Not at all. I don’t like being ruled by fear. That being said, I’ve been hearing warnings about potential shortages in the food supply chain in the coming months. I take this seriously, as most of these warnings have come from people who work with and/or within the food supply chain. Given the numbers, it may prove wise to keep this in the back of your mind. Food and nourishment are 6 qualities, and the 4 is about keeping your personal structures safe and solid. Therefore this month would be an excellent time to stock up your pantry with the future in mind. Plan ahead for a few months, if you can. Don’t raid your grocery store and cause shortages for others; rather, buy a few more additional canned goods and non-perishable items with every grocery trip and slowly stockpile. If these food supply chain shortages never comes to pass, well then, all you’ve done is some extra advanced shopping, right? It will be no big deal if this shortage never happens, but it will be a HUGE deal if it does. Stay one step ahead.
- Don't shirk responsibility and responsible behavior. Rebelling against the stern and serious lessons of the 4 and 6 often backfire. Just... don't.
- We are going to feel the oncoming wildcard 5 Universal Year more and more as the month progresses and the new year approaches, so the time to get serious is now. Do the hard work the 4 demands. Batten down the hatches so the upcoming 5 can't toss your sense of security into a blender and hit the frappé button.
- Lastly, for God's sake, people- care about others and take care of one another. Every major religion in the world commands us to do so, and this is no time to turn our backs on others' suffering! Follow the 6's lead and give a damn about others- including those that are different than you. Leave no one behind. You just might be pleasantly surprised by how you are personally enriched in return.
