The 8 Universal Month in the 4 Universal Year: A Time For Fortitude
A few weeks ago, I posted this blog about the 4 Universal Year and some of the many lessons it brings. If you haven’t yet read that post, please do so before reading below. It will help tie some things together.
So here we are, embarking on the 4th month in 2020, which has already proven to be an incredibly heavy year. As I’ve stated previously, in numerology, the year 2020 adds up to the number 4, making our Universal Year a 4 year. Everyone on the planet is currently contending with this energy, and it is forcing billions of us to contemplate the nature of stability, and what it takes to protect it.
As a reminder, the Universal Year describes the themes we are collectively learning. It points toward humanity’s likely karmic lessons, leitmotifs, and homework. We look to national/international/global news to get a feel for how this vibe is unfolding. Within this structure we all also have our own Personal Years which have their own rotation, so this is a number that tends to make more sense within the larger universal framework. Thus, the term “Universal Year” is used.
Be the year Universal or Personal, even the months have their own vibe going on. Therefore it pays to break those numbers down to further ascertain how the larger lessons of the year are apt to play themselves out.
Before we discuss April 2020, let’s touch in on March- because for many countries around the world, a LOT happened.
March was a 7 Universal Month. It was an astonishing month to say the least; in fact, I would say it was one of the most intense manifestations of the 7 I’ve ever seen. Why do I say that? Several reasons:
1. The 7 always reveals something previously unseen, and when it does, it’s usually a pretty profound reveal.
2. One of the 7’s specialties is forcing people to slow the hell down, wait, and pay attention.
3. Similar to the number 4, the 7 values the pursuit of facts and truth, and it does this through intense study and research.
4. The 7 focuses on the need for reflection, rest, and introverted activities.
5. It’s also a time where one needs to pay extra special attention to one’s health.
Do you see where I’m going with this? With the exception of eastern Pacific Asian countries which are vastly more prepared to deal with pandemics, much of the rest of the world found March to be a massive wake-up call. Most of the outbreaks began in earlier months, but the enormity and scale of the COVID-19 pandemic were largely revealed in March. Lockdowns and shelter-in-place orders are forcing hundreds of millions to slow down, stay home, wait for new developments, and keep an eye on the news. We are waiting for more clinical information to help us understand the nature of the virus, and scientists are in overdrive trying to provide that data. There is vigorous debate about what statistics are not only real, but also more important. And why are we doing all of this? To attempt to protect the health and well-being of ourselves and our communities.
Now, here we are, rolling into the 8 Universal Month. What are some of the themes of the 8?
1. The 8 showcases and values strong, decisive, unwavering leadership.
2. 8 is the number of personal power and mental fortitude.
3. 8s rules the realm of trouble-shooting and effective problem solving, often heightening the need for professional decision-making skills.
4. 8 is the number of the CEO, corporations, the top executives, money, high-level government, hospital administrators, etc.
5. The 8 accentuates strength obtained in the face of adversity. Persistence. Perseverance.
So what do I think this could mean, viewed through the lens of the 4 Universal Year?
The practical 4 resides on the physical plane, and the steely 8 lives on the mental plane. What that means is this isn’t the time for emotional displays or outbursts. To be sure, this is likely to be a time of strong, intense emotion, but this 4 Year/8 Month combo isn’t going to allow much time for that. It’s time to compartmentalize as best as possible for the time being, because the clock is ticking and the best way through this mess is to focus on the practical details of survival. It’s often been said we are now at war with COVID-19, but the time to grieve our losses will have to wait until we can see some tangible results from our labors.
Leaders who demonstrate a constant, competent, reassuring presence will find themselves rewarded for their efforts. Listen for those that say “What I currently don’t know, I will learn and figure out,” and “I take full responsibility for what happens under my watch.” Those are the leaders favored under this vibration.
Speaking of leaders, 8s represent the people at the top of the proverbial pyramid. When expressed proactively, they represent success and attainment of power. The 8 vibe favors those who prefer to be the Boss, the ones calling the shots. On the negative end of the spectrum it can be power-hungry, micromanaging, and controlling. It’s possible we may see an intensification in leaders jockeying for control or trying to wrestle control away from others, especially if they perceive weakness, or they themselves fear being seen as weak. The 8 represents strength, so if our leaders don’t stay focused on the finish line, we could watch things easily devolve into pissing matches, power grabs, and tug-of-wars, dissipating momentum and wasting precious time. Let’s all hope and pray it doesn’t come to that.
The 8 signifies money matters, and the power associated with it. When it comes to money, 8s can bring a windfall of cash. However if that money isn’t invested in a stable or sustainable way, it can also represent major financial loss. Problems with the stock market could easily re-emerge or escalate, so stay vigilant. The 4 vibe strongly encourages us to conserve our money and resources. Therefore if you’re the recipient of government stimulus money, either stockpile it in your emergency fund, or use it strictly for practical matters that will increase your financial stability in the long run (if you can, that is). Avoid frivolity at all costs. Stay thrifty.
The 8 is also the number of high-level executives and corporations. Combined with the money vibe, here in the USA I’d wager those corporations and other businesses that benefit from the recent stimulus bill will receive their money before private citizens will.
Speaking of corporations, those that have galvanized to make ventilators, PPE, and COVID-19 tests will be feeling even more pressure to not just meet their initial deadlines, but to surpass them. Two of the most 4/8 phrases I can think of are “time is of the essence” and “time is money.” God help them if they fail, for the 4/8 vibe punishes those that waste that precious time and opportunity.
So, what can we do under this 4/8 combo?
Here are a few of my suggestions:
- If you are in a position of power and able to provide practical assistance to stabilize your community or environment, do it. Adopt a stretch of highway and keep it clean. Get involved in distributing meals to those in need. Show positive proactive leadership by volunteering your time and/or donating money toward obtaining PPE for our medical professionals. Assess the needs you have the power to help fill, and do it. Be a leader in your own particular way.
- Budget, budget, budget. Protect and conserve your assets.
- Refrain from giving energy and attention to those engaged in power struggles, no matter who they may be. Focus instead on people and organizations that demonstrate competency, consistency, and dependability. They are the ones that are getting shit done, and need our support.
- Research activities that strengthen and sharpen your mind and mental skill. Despite all the fear in the world, we are never as powerless as things may suggest. Tune your internal signal toward sources that feed your internal strength and resilience. Find out how the power of the mind can fortify you.
In summation: if the energy in this 4/8 transit is used wisely, we could emerge from this stronger and more determined. What is weak will be burned away, and no doubt it will be very, very painful. However I am reminded of this wonderful quote by Helen Keller, and it comforts me. I hope it comforts you as well:
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
Right on, Helen. Right on.

Other notable quotes for the 4/8 combo:
"On my desk I have a motto which says The Buck Stops Here' -- the decision has to be made."
- Harry S. Truman
”Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.” – Abraham Lincoln
Heed those words, and stay strong, friends.
